"जे एन यू एस यू अध्यक्ष कन्हैया कुमार के सेडीशन वाले निर्णय में 'उपकार ' फिल्म के एक गीत का वर्णन है। 'बुलंदी' फिल्म का यह डायलाग भी छात्रों व विद्यालयों के सम्बन्धों पर महत्वूर्ण प्रकाश डालता है। एक अध्यापक छात्रों के विरुद्ध अपने प्राचार्य को पुलिस एक्शन लेने से रोक देता है जबकि जे एन यू वी सी ने अपने तीन-तीन निर्दोष छात्रों को झूठे वीडियों के आधार पर जेल भिजवा दिया था। इनके बारे में कन्हैया कुमार का प्रेस रिलीज़ व स्टेटस ध्यान देने योग्य हैं । "( विजय राजबली माथुर ):

The Academic Council meeting of JNU was held today at 2.30 pm at SSS 1 Committee Room. JNUSU demanded that the first agendum to be discussed in the meeting should be HLEC Report as it is a matter of utmost urgency since students have been on Indefinite Hunger Strike for the last 13 days against the unjust enquiry and punishments stated in this report. The VC initially did not agree to this demand, but later on after requests by both the teacher and the student representatives he had to concede to our demand and discuss the HLEC report as the first agendum.
Most of the AC members said that the HLEC Report is a farce and all the punishments meted out are unjustified. However, the VC insisted that this matter could be discussed later.
AC members refused to accept this attempt to postpone the discussion on HLEC any further. The VC in the capacity of the Chairperson of the Council hurriedly adjourned the meeting and ran away from the Committee Room. It is to be noticed that in his very first Academic Council meeting as the VC of the University, he failed even to address, what to speak of resolving any of the concerns of the students’ and teachers’ community.
The members of the AC passed a resolution after the VC left, condemning the adjournment of the meeting and stating that “the whole range of punishments meted out to students is excessive and that the harsher punishments such as rustication, suspension, banishment from campus, and exorbitant fines should be immediately revoked”.
Addressing the student community after the adjournment of the meeting JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar stated, “This is very unprecedented that the JNU VC ran away from the Academic Council. There can be no healthy academic functioning without addressing the concerns of the students. Because of his hasty adjournment of the meeting, none of the other important issues such as OBC reservation, deprivation points, marks of viva voce, hostel crisis, etc. could even be raised. The VC,instead of addressing these issues, is claims that he was mistreated and manhandled by the students. This is a baseless allegation as the VC has been videographed being escorted by a dozen security guards while students peacefully sang songs and raised slogans. Not a hair on his head has been harmed. In line with the highest traditions of JNU, students were peacefully raising their demands in front of him since he has not spoken to the students publicly even once after joining his office. This is a matter of high insensitivity that even after 13 days of our indefinite Hunger Strike, the VC remains deaf and dumb to our demand to withdraw the biased HLEC Report.”

कल आपने दिखा ही दिया कि झूठ किस तरह नंगे पाँव (हालाँकि आपने जूते पहन रखे थे) भागता है। जिस कमेटी को दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट के पूर्व न्यायाधीश ए.पी. शाह ने अवैध कहा है, उसके फ़ैसलों पर आप एकेडेमिक काउंसिल की मीटिंग में असहमति का एक शब्द तक नहीं सुनना चाहते हैं। कल हमारे साथियों की भूख हड़ताल का तेरहवाँ दिन था। आपने उनसे बात क्यों नहीं की, यह आपके आकाओं के बयान सुनकर समझ में आता है। यह भी समझ में आता है कि आप उनके स्वास्थ्य की पूरी तरह अनदेखी करके एकेडेमिक काउंसिल की मीटिंग में उनके मसले पर बहस तक नहीं करना चाहते। लेकिन यह समझ में नहीं आता कि आप शिक्षकों और विद्यार्थियों का भरोसा खोकर अपने पद पर क्यों बने रहना चाहते हैं। शिक्षकों ने हमारे साथ जो एकजुटता दिखाई है उसे प्रगतिशील आंदोलन में हमेशा याद रखा जाएगा। वीसी के पद पर ऐसे व्यक्ति को बैठने दीजिए जो कैंपस के हित-अहित का मतलब जानता हो।

ये तो कुछ सवाल थे। अब मैं आपको जेएनयू की परंपरा के बारे में कुछ बताना चाहूँगा। यह जेएनयू की परंपरा ही है जो थीसिस जमा करने वाले साथियों को सब कुछ दाँव पर लगाकर अपने साथियों के लिए भूख हड़ताल पर बैठने की प्रेरणा देती है। यह जेएनयू की परंपरा ही है जो एससी, एसटी और ओबीसी के आरक्षण को लागू कराने के लिए कभी प्रशासन तो कभी शिक्षकों से कड़े सवाल करने की ताकत देती है। यह जेएनयू की परंपरा ही है जो पढ़ाई को क्लासरूम के बाहर ले जाकर आदिवासियों, दलितों, किसानों, स्त्रियों आदि के संघर्ष से जोड़ती है। यह जेएनयू की परंपरा ही है जो आपकी तमाम छात्र विरोधी हरकतों के बावजूद आपके सामने केवल तेज़ आवाज़ में सवाल करने वाले विद्यार्थियों को खड़ा करती है न कि ढेला-पत्थर लेकर निशाना साधने वाले विद्यार्थियों को। अगर आप इस परंपरा का सम्मान नहीं करते हैं तो आप हमारे लिए सबसे बड़े आउटसाइडर बने रहेंगे, जो न केवल आपके लिए बल्कि हमारे लिए भी बहुत निराशाजनक बात होगी।
